My First Celebrity Entry
My first lupus celebrity entry is ...Seal.
It took me a long time to decide who would be the first entry. I read the first interview with Seal in 2009 where he openly discussed having discoid lupus. Maybe watching how much coverage and little judgement Michael Jackson received when his lupus was discussed motivated him, who knows? But this is the decade for lupus & we need celebrity spokespeople. I have been volunteering but so far no calls from the LFA. Lupus was in the top 5 health searches on AOL for 2009. This is our time - we need to get more knowledge out there & more $ dedicated to research and development of new better treatments.
So Seal you are my #1 celebrity pick. I hope you live up to this honor and start stepping up more for lupus. We luppies need you!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts regarding to Lupus disease, I heard it from news but not that familiar about it yet, and still finding some answers. How could we possibly cure this kind of disease? Any answers? I just want to be aware of this and in some instances avoid from having lupus. Have a nice day!

Lupus Disease is an autoimmune disorder and it effects organ systems, skin, joints, and internal organs. Lupus can effect both men and women, but it is eight times as likely in women. It can also occur at any age, but the typical age range for someone to get Lupus is ten to fifty. It is normally more common in African American people as well as Asian people. This is a disease that is usually hereditary, but in some cases there is no family history of Lupus. Symptoms of this can vary in a wide variety of areas in the body. In the muscloskeletal area it affects the joints and causes mild to severe joint pain. Lupus is known to cause athritis in the hands. The skin is affected by rashes,Forms of treatment for Lupus has to concentrate on its side effects. There is no cure for the disease itself, so alleviating the symptoms is all a person can do. Anti-inflammatory medication is given for arthritis pain as well as the pleurisy. Skin rashes can be helped with corticosteriods, which typically comes in a cream form

Lupus erythematosus is a category for a collection of diseases with similar underlying problems with immunity.
